Canvas Bag.

After waking up a bit late, Tiff and I trekked to @REI for a massive equipment garage sale. Today’s objective was to find a small messenger bag for me to use in the UK. I’d spend the past few weeks looking for a canvas bag with no success. We scavenged almost every store on the planet. I was ready to abandon the cause. Even our favorite equipment resource, the local REI shop, had failed to show results. And then, as fate would have it, I happened into a @Fossil retail store. The smell of leather overwhelmed my senses; and in the corner was ‘beauty’ in bag form. Four days remain until England/Scotland/Wales. Peace on Earth.

Capture the Moment.

Photography and Cinematography are two great methods used to capture the essence of a moment. Thus, in addition to a textual journal, Tiffany and I have resolved to record our trip via photo and film. We will be packing the following gear: a Canon EOS 20D, a Canon Powershot D10 (waterproof, freezeproof, shockproof), and a Sanyo Xacti HD1010 (1080p, 1080i). We’ll be posting some media throughout our travels. Five days remain.

Tiffany and I spent the evening pouring over various maps of the United Kingdom. And after a rather lengthy trip (involving numerous book shops and pizza), we settled on two really great maps; each one a summation of it’s new owner. Tiff opted for a 724 page travel book; and I purchased a MoleSkine London Edition. Eight days remain.

Travel Shoes.

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to post some of our favorite gear on the @ivolz blog. Starting with our travel shoes:

After a bit of research and a smidgen of magic, Tiffany and I purchased some new trainers/shoes for our trip to the United Kingdom. I opted for a pair of Salomon TechAmphibian2 shoes, and a set of Sanuk Kingston Sidewalk Surfers. Both of these shoes are super versatile. The Salomons are ultra lightweight with a contragrip outsole (ideal for hiking/walking). In contrast, the Sanuks are a super comfortable cloth shoe. Tiffany chose a lovely pair of Merrell Circuit Breeze shoes; and a set of Chaco Z/1 adventure sandals.

I’ll blog the performance reviews after a few more walks.
